StockTax Data File Selection                  (Back to Home)

In this step you tell StockTax which specific transaction data files on your computer
you would like to be processed for your next report.

StockTax will bring up the "Data Selection" window:

Click on the wpe9.jpg (2960 bytes) button
(StockTax will show the current Broker - in this case DATEK on the button)

StockTax will activate the File Selection window:

Click on the file you would like to process and then click on then "Open" button.

To select several individual files hold down the "Ctrl" key and click on all the files you want to select.

To select ALL  files ((or a range or files) click on the first file,
then hold down the "Shift" key and click on the last file,
then release the Shift key!

StockTax will show you the currently selected file(s) in the large gray rectangle:

and also in the StockTax main window next to the button:

If you have selected several files Stocktax will first display the folder
and then all the files selected within that folder:
wpeD.jpg (11485 bytes)

Saving Text from Clipboard
If you have copied some text to the Windows Clipboard StockTax will ask you
if you want to save the text to a file, before it starts the Data Selection window:

If you confirm with YES StockTax will bring up a "Save As" window and
prompt you for the text output filename.
Once the text is saved StockTax will show you a confirmation box like:

This Clipboard copy function is mainly used for the DATEK web page save!

Mixed Input Formats
If you have mixed input formats:

  1. Process all files of the first broker/input format and save the StockTax work file into a new file (Input1.wrk)
  2. Process all files of the 2nd  broker/input format and save the StockTax work file into a new file (Input2.wrk) ...
  3. Repeat for each other input file format.
  4. Select StockTax Work File  from the Broker/Input type list in Step1
  5. Select the newly saved input file (Input1.wrk, Input2.wrk) in the Data Selection Step2
  6. Generate your report
