Almost every day new stocks are starting to trade (IPO Initial Public Offerings).
This function allows you to find these "babies" just a few minutes after the
opening bell.
Some of these are increasing immediatelly in price by huge leaps (10 or even 20% on the
first day).
This functions allows you to participate early in the day.
StockEagle will not show these new stocks in the regular studies, because they are not YET
part of the main database. At the end of each day StockEagle will automatically perform
this
function and inlcude new IPOs in the main database the next day.
StockEagle will check letter by letter starting at A...Z for new arrivals.
This process usually takes around 5 minutes during which no other function is available.
StockEagle will investigate more then 20,000 ticker symbols and automatically eliminate
the ones
below $5 (or the Minimum IPO price defined in [Sys] MinIPOPrc in Eagle.ini)
and which are not showing some actual trades.
At the end of this process StockEagle will offer you the choice to view the list of IPO
recently processed
(excatly like the "View IPO log" function).
This function is part of the automatic daily closing process.
Here is an example of 4 new IPOs on July 24th, 1999:
In the first column you see the date(19980724) followed by the counter (1...4).
Then the new ticker symbol (BVEW...), how many days traded and the current price.
(BVEW gained on the first day(Jul 24) 35.4%, it opened at 12 closed at 16 1/4)!
This information is stored in the IPO.TXT file in the current StockEagle directory.
